Having curly hair myself...
I have always felt like hairstylists weren't quite sure how to handle my hair. This left me wondering why someone would straighten my hair to cut it when I don't wear my hair straight. This method led to a horrible shape, especially since curlies have more than one curl pattern throughout their hair. I did not look forward to the salon experience and found myself straightening my hair more and more often.
After many years, I finally found a hairstylist who specialized in curly hair and everything changed! I was amazed at what a difference a dry curl by curl cut made, (cutting those curls where they live) not to mention a completely different approach to highlighting and hair painting.
Discovering this new world of people...
who spoke my language made me curious about what steps I would have to take to do the same for people who felt like I had.
In 2018 I enrolled in school for Hairstyling. At that time I was in the process of healing my own hair and teaching myself how to nurture it back to health. Since completing that program, my goal has been to specialize working with texture, taking in all of the knowledge and training available to me.
My favourite part about being a hairstylist...
is to help and teach people to love their hair. Healthy beautiful hair is my passion, especially waves, curls and coils. I believe keeping the integrity of the hair is essential and my top priority. I aim to help my guests manage and work with their natural texture. My firsthand experience dealing with my own hair will allow me to help your hair reach its full potential. I understand that many curlies feel disconnected from having a positive experience in the salon. My mission is to change that feeling by amplifying those curls, creating volume, movement and a beautiful shape.
When I'm not at work...
you'll often find me at home trying out a new recipe because I love to cook, or on a walk to the park with my husband, our dog, and our 2 year old son.
I know first hand how busy mornings can be and the last thing you need is to struggle with your hair daily. I'd love to teach you how to have healthy hair that gives you confidence everyday.
