I was inspired to pursue hairstyling when I was 14 and took a cosmetology class in grade 10. My teacher had been a successful salon owner prior to becoming an educator and I was so engaged that I continued in cosmetology throughout the rest of my time in high school and even participated in an Ontario Skills Competition for hairstyling. I was fortunate enough to actually start my apprenticeship at an award-winning salon in the GTA while I was still in high school and I continued to work there after graduation. This really fueled my passion for hairstyling.
After a short detour into modelling, acting, and school for marketing, in 2010 I joined a bridal hair and makeup team as a freelance stylist. I'm not a morning person at all, but somehow I fell in love with 6:00am Saturday mornings during wedding season for 8 years. Eventually I realized how much I still love all aspects of doing hair, and how that was much more me then the "normal" Monday to Friday 9 to 5. This prompted me to return to complete hairstyling school with a renewed dedication to my craft. I also love that I get to meet new people and work with all hair types. I love to try new things with hair from new cutting techniques to experimenting with products and styles.
I relocated to Kitchener from Brampton with my husband and have been working here at Curve Hair Studio since January 2019. As a curly girl I was originally intrigued by a salon that specializes in curls and quickly realized that this had much more impact than just creating pretty hair. Like many other curly girls, I went through a long period where I straightened my hair because I knew that would consistently look good. Now I get to share the knowledge about achieving healthy hair and how to embrace the texture you have, from first-hand experience. My own curls reflect my adventurous nature and I believe that your hair should be a reflection of your personality too.
My DevaCurl training has given me the skills to help you achieve whatever shape or style will best suit where you are on your hair journey. I listen carefully to your experiences, wants, and needs and we come up with a plan together to reach your hair goals. Not only do you walk out with beautiful hair, but hair that was cared for and loved and now you’ll be armed with the skills to care for it at home too.
