We are Super Pumped this winter!

Dry air and cold Canadian winters suck the life out of curly hair and leave us with a lot of frizz. DevaCurl has the solution with their limited edition Super Pumped Litre sets with a FREE full sized Super Cream, available in 3 different combos for all curl kind. Here are a few more tips for winter curl care:

Try leaving a little bit more conditioner in than you normally do. This will load your hair up with hydration and help combat frizz from the dry heat.

We know hot showers are the BEST, especially in winter. This is your friendly reminder to not let the water get too hot. You can get heat damage from regular hot showers plus they’re reallyy drying for your skin. Try to keep the water warm to cool.

Another great tip to lock in hydration is to make your cream based stylers even more hydrating by combining them with a nourishing oil like MirrorCurls or Set it Free before applying to wet hair. If you’re more of a gel user, consider layering a cream based styler like Super Cream under your gel, for a little extra hydration.

Winter’s arrival sometimes brings more than lots of snow, it can also mean a dry itchy scalp. The most common type of dandruff is Pityriasis Capitis Simplex, which is caused primarily by oil mixing with dead skin cells and/or product buildup, which results in itchiness and flaking of the scalp. This type of dry dandruff can get worse due to dry skin, stress, diet, poor hygiene, product buildup and sensitivity to products. Most of us only experience Dry Scalp which is not dandruff but a result of hot water, high heat in homes and cars, and icy cold winter air! So what do you do? We have the answers!

DO NOT scratch away flakes before shampooing.
Roughing up the surface of the hair can cause irritation, pain and even infections—not to mention the flakes could come back even thicker because the scalp is trying to protect itself.

DO Hibernate All Winter
Just kidding! Just as our skin is affected by colder weather, the winter months (when the air is drier), can dry out our scalps, too. Make sure to bundle up outside and be aware of how hot the water is when you shower.

DO Drink plenty of water.
Hydration begins from within so make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day. This will help your skin and scalp to retain moisture. No, the Venti Latte from Starbucks doesn’t count.

DO NOT use a dandruff shampoo, like Head & Shoulders.
Seriously this is the worst thing you can do! Dandruff shampoos are very drying, and can make hair brittle. In addition to the tips above, try using the AG Naturals Shampoo and Conditioner which contains apple cider vinegar to rebalance and soothe the scalp without sulphates, silicones, or parabens. Leaving extra conditioner in the hair can help your hair stay hydrated too and results in less frequent shampooing! Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Lavender Mint line is moisturizing and stimulates blood flow to the scalp to keep it healthy.

We have some extra holiday sets in stock and they need to go to make room for new promos. These sets are already an amazing deal but we are taking an extra 20% off while quantities last. Choose from DevaCurl, Matrix RAW, AG Naturals (winter scalp care anyone?), or Paul Mitchell sets before they’re gone.
